Gerry and David Spiller, both arts graduates, live in Melton, Suffolk. Previously when living in Essex they had annual exhibitions in their own gallery space. Now they regularly contribute to 12+Arts, based in Suffolk and to other exhibitions.
Gerry trained in theatre design at Wimbledon School of Art. She worked for many years in mainstream theatre, film and ballet, designing and making costumes,props and sets. In addition she has been closely involved with The Little Angel Theatre, Islington, a world renowned puppetry company. Currently she regularly works with the “Asylum” life-drawing group. In addition to her on-going drawing and painting, she is making exciting 3D works in wire and mixed media which explore the use of lighting, shadow and scale.
David is a painter and writer. He spent much of his working life in art and design education as teacher, examiner and inspector. He has been painting and exhibiting for many years. He is currently exploring his ideas working in 3D specifically clay and other materials. Some of this work is linked to his writing.
Two years ago he published a collection of short stories: “Caught in the Act” (The Book Guild Ltd. 2017) and more recently he has produced a collection of poetry: ‘Cowparsley and other poems’(Matador Publishing 2019)
